The Department of Health, declared the third (3rd) week of February of every year as Leprosy Prevention and Control Week. To observe this occasion, the Philippine Leprosy Mission will promote the importance of skin health and encourage the public with skin problems to consult at the local health centers. PLM will also conduct free skin consultations (for any skin ailments) in the following areas:
February 20, 2014 (Thursday) – Brgy. Tatalon, Quezon City
February 21, 2014 (Friday) – Brgy. Maligaya, Fairview, Quezon City
February 22 (Saturday) Brgy Lalawigan, Samal, Bataan
Dermatologists from St. Luke’s Medical Center, Philippine General Hospital and East Avenue Medical Center will participate in the said free skin consultations. The Philippine Dermatological Society also donated ointment for those who will consult.
hi gud eve my mother was suffering leprosy at first medication she take a medice by 6 months and then 1 year and she stop by taking medicine on almost 1 year but now shes not felling well again and befor his doctor advice her to get a skin test biopsy but it so expensive …and we dont have enaf money for that treatment i hope u can help me…..

Sometimes after the medication the patients have lepra reaction specially if the body is weak. Did you get free medicine from government hospital.

hello if you are in manila you can have a biopsy in philippine general hospital for less than a thousand pesos. Probably your mother is having a lepra reaction. she needs to be monitored by a certified dermatologist so that they can manage her reaction. Also ensure that she does not have other infection in the body such as UTI, tooth decay etc.
